CAROLYN LAURIE FREEDY (nee KOZAK) It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Carolyn Freedy on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at the age of 64. Remaining to forever cherish Carolyn's memory are her husband of 40 years Jim Freedy; her two children, Chris (Tara), Joelle (Jeff) and grandchildren, Hayley and Emily. Also remaining to mourn are her sister Barbara Sharpe of Ontario; nieces, Jackie Sharpe, Jennifer Sharpe; nephews, Kevin (Jamie) Sharpe, Lee (Rebecca) Kozak and her mother-in-law Josie Grossman. She was predeceased by her parents Terry and Sheila Kozak, her brother Terry Kozak and her brother-in-law Merv Sharpe. Born in Winnipeg on September 9, 1945, Carolyn lived in Elmwood for a short time before moving to the west end where she completed her formal education. After marrying her soulmate Jim on November 1, 1969 they moved to St. James where they would spend the next 40 years. Raising their two children was her proudest accomplishment. She loved her family more than words can describe and will be sadly missed by them. Carolyn worked at several jobs in her lifetime, some of which were Sherwin Williams, Corydon Physiotherapy Clinic and the last 15 years at Grace Hospital. She cherished the friendships that she made over the years. Carolyn had a passion for party planning and was a master at catering. She also enjoyed spontaneous weekend getaways to the US and sitting on the deck with her dog Dudley . She will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Carolyn's funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Thank you to all the staff and friends at Grace Hospital for their caring support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Firefighters Burn Fund, 303-83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4J9 or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • The moment we would see each other, the biggest of smiles would naturally form on our faces as our eyes made contact. We would help each other out at work and schedule our breaks together so it would give us the opportunity to talk, gossip, tell jokes, stories and make each other laugh. Our friendship was respectful and loving. Carolyne had experiences that no one knew about or assumed she could possess. Her empathy came through. I think this is why she became my personal cheerleader, motivator, mentor, and confidante. I love you and I really miss you...Joy & Family - Posted by: Joy Kulik (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2009
